Horses & More is a grassroots program geared to giving your child new challenges. It is an educational week filled with many activities they are not normally able to participate in.
They will be exposed to the basics of horsemanship, working in the dirt growing vegetables and flowers, basic first aid, survival, local wildlife, and good work ethics. There will be art and craft projects as well as special projects each group will participate in, that will always be remembered at Meadowgate. We will have special guests scheduled that will educate and challenge your child to new levels!
The day starts at 8am and ends at 5pm. For five days your child will arrive each morning with his/her bag lunch and supplies. The child you dropped off fresh and clean will be picked up dirty and smelly…a sure sign of fun! Please note this is not a horseback riding program. Your child will not be riding horses. A list of “things to bring” will be included in your registration packet. Flip- flops and open toed shoes are not permitted. No one will be allowed to stay for the day without closed toed shoes/sneakers. No exceptions!! Water and an afternoon snack are provided.
Activities vary each day. A schedule will be posted on the board each morning. There are no refunds if your child misses a day. The cost for 5 fun filled days is only $125.00. No where else will you find this enrichment for your child for any less!
Horsemanship will include how to properly and safely behave around a horse. How to feed, groom, and take care of a horse,. Basic instruction on what a horse needs and what it takes to own one.
Gardening will include all aspects of starting and growing a garden as well as flowers. This is a hands on challenge and a lot of fun hard work with results that can be seen.
First aid will include basics of emergency care should they find themselves in a predicament. They will walk away knowing what to do for themselves as well as how to help someone else in need.
Survival will include basics of what to do if they are lost and how to take care of themselves till they are found.
Wildlife will include a visit from our DEC office with an educational presentation of our local wildlife and what to do if they come across a wild animal.
Arts & Crafts will be led by a local artist each week with a variety of crafts to create.
Work ethics of responsibility and compassion will impact your child for years to come.
The Registration and payment deadline for this program is June 1st. Space is limited, so don’t delay… sign up today!!
